Tuesday October 18, 2011, 23:19Are you a musician who needs funding for your next video? What about a starving artist who could use a little help with your next project? Well, surely you've heard of Kickstarter.

In the two years since its launch, Kickstarter, an online crowdfunding service, has had one million people sign up and pledge financial support for all sorts of projects: everything from graphic novels to computer software to music recording art. In the past year, Kickstarter has grown over 200%. Of its supporters, 84% have been one-time donors, but 16% have financially supported more than one project.  Three quarters of all pledges have been for $50 or less.
