FLA to HTML with Wallaby

Adobe released Wallaby, a tool that was first previewed last fall at Adobe’s Max 2010 developer conference. Wallaby is the code name for an experimental Flash-to-HTML 5 converter available via Adobe Labs (the site with featured Adobe’s beta technology). Wallaby, is a tool that allows to convert Flash output (FLA files) to HTML5 via a simple drag and drop interface.

Adobe Flash Player with 3D capability

Adobe is working on a Flash Player with 3D graphics capabilities. A new Flash Player 3D will be ready for presentation later in the year.

Apple Antitrust Probe

The Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice have received complaints (from a person who asked to remain anonymous) about Apple’s new iPhone policy. Agencies are exploring now whether to open an antitrust inquiry into Apple. The problem is restricting developers writing apps for its iPhone operating system and do not allow developers to produce iPhone applications using Adobe’s software.

Adobe against Flash

Steve Jobs (CEO of Apple) in his statement “Thoughts on Flash” laid out reasons for excluding Flash from Apple’s devices. Some of reasons are: Flash animations use too much of battery, low security, and questionable functionality on touch-screen devices.

Flash coming to Android, WebOS and BlackBerry

Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen in his interview confirmed that Android, WebOS and BlackBerry versions of Flash 10.1 will be available on those platforms in the second half of the year.

Flash Player in Google Chrome

While HTML5 is killing Flash, Google decided to help this technology to survive. The Flash Player will be included in downloads of Chrome browser. Paul Betlem from Adobe in his blog post said “Moving forward, Google will be including Flash Player in Chrome so users will always have the most current release and a safer and more seamless experience.”

Web design without flash animations would be boring. Even if this technology is not perfect, definitely it is worth to keep Flash alive in web.
