My conclusion is that a speed of indexing pages by Google’s web crawler depends very much on page range of a website. So, if your page doesn’t have high rank and Google’s crawler seems to be lazy while visiting your page and submitting updated sitemap definitely helps.

Sitemap is a must especially if your website is relatively new.
