Many business’s and people believe creating a basic website for their business is all that is necessary for viewers and other traffic. This is actually not the case, because websites needs to have key elements in maintaining a successful, but also a website that will give all of the visitors and traffics what they are searching for.

Key elements for a great website

Website structure is very important, because the structure is the foundation for the website. In order to get the best structure for your website, it is imperative an experienced website is hired. From their your webmaster will be able to tell you the best coding that is necessary.

Usability is also another very important factor in creating a website in which all of your users are going to be able to navigate your site. Navigating through a site can be very tough if the site is not constructed correctly. It is always a good idea to take some time and navigate through your site to be sure you feel as though other people won’t have any problems.

Readability is much more important that it sounds. You want all of the viewers to have a pleasant time looking at the site. Always aim for colors easy to read. Dark text on a light background is recommended.

Website functionality is another major element. Most of us have been on a website where a link doesn’t work or a blog might not load properly. Our first instinct is to try again, then leave. That is where websites loose major traffic and in some cases money. Always be sure your website operates the way you would want it to, and immediately correct any issues.

Building a website takes time and dedication. However, once your website is well put together and all of the functions needed have been added on, then you will be able to rest assured your site is going to be a success.

Recently, Google decided to show on its homepage colorful pictures as a background. Just like Bing does. A negative respond of the Internet was on an enormous scale. I was browsing many sites and I didn’t find any positive comment about a new (stolen from Bing) Google’s idea. What people love about Google is simplicity and clean design.

Clean Web Design We go to Google to find quickly information, not to have fun. That trend is seen also among all websites for any size of business. Nowadays, not too many clients ask for flash and colorful images on their website. Delivering clear message and valuable information on a website for your business is possible only if design is clean and simple. This way you can easily and effectively deliver a message to your customers. Then, with a little bit of bright color focus their attention on elements which make money for you – I am talking about calling to action buttons such as “contact us”, “buy now” etc.

White or very light background with a black font always will look gorgeous. This is also the greatest combination of colors to deliver the best experience with reading on the screen.

You can also take a look at our Web Design portfolio, to see that majority of our work contains simple, clean and light design.

Browser Compatibility

First, let me list paid services:

BrowserCam – $1,000/year

BrowserLab – so far free, but it will be paid since 2011

Free browser testing

There is one free browser testing website browsershots.org. It can be slow and not user friendly, however it provides enough options for most of web developers. The most important fact is, the services supports all browsers you need to test: IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, Netscape , Dilo, SeaMonkey, Minefield, Epiphany, Flock, Galeon, Konqueror, K-Meleon, Avant, Shireteko, Kazehakase, Iceweasel. Indeed you do not even need test your website with all of those options. You can visit our monthly updated browser market share carts to see that it is enough to make your website look good with the newest versions of IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari.

Vortforart.com was created to organize graphic design competitions in partnership with major universities across the USA. Entrepreneur.com published few days ago an article about this project. Also, recently the founder of Vote For Art, Mr. Jeremy Parker, was named “New Jersey Person of the Week” by New York’s NY1 Cable TV station. Congratulations!

The project Vortforart.com is still in a public beta version, however the success came already within six days of launching the project. Only this amount of days was needed to make over 200 designers submit their art.

– some input forms with option “upload file” doesn’t work with Opera, I don’t want to go into technical details, but it is serious technical problem :)
– what I found today: just wanted to log in to Google AdWords (software to advertise in Internet, known as Google Pay Per Click): We’re sorry, the AdWords interface does not work with Opera. We recommend using Firefox 3, Internet Explorer 8, Safari, or Chrome to manage your AdWords campaigns. Learn more.
